Under the patronage of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defence Affairs, H E Dr Khalid bin Mohamed Al Attiyah, and in the attendance of the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, H E Lieutenant-General (Pilot) Ghanem bin Shaheen Al Ghanem (pictured), the cornerstone for the Armed Forces Technical Institute was laid in cooperation with BAE Systems. 

The institute will include a comprehensive technical training system and the latest equipment to enable trainees to carry out all required work after receiving an internationally recognised diploma in technical disciplines (electronics and mechanics).
Technicians will be able to work on all the equipment in the Qatari Armed Forces that will serve in the future for the purpose of self-reliance and keep up with the continuous growth of the Armed Forces and the Qatar National Vision 2030.
