With few months until the launch of the sixth edition of the Doha Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2018), between 12-14 March 2018, the organising committee is meticulously working to deliver a premier exhibition and conference, as a must-attend event on the global maritime security calendar.
Marking its 10th anniversary at this special upcoming edition, DIMDEX will once again prove it is more than just an exhibition. DIMDEX 2018 will be “A World-Class Platform for Technology, Maritime & Defence Industry Capabilities” that strengthens Doha’s position as a burgeoning business hub and offers global vendors, visitors and guests valuable commercial opportunities to lucrative markets, as a dynamic networking and business platform. The organising committee of DIMDEX has been conducting a series of official visits to international defence exhibitions which plays a vital role in reinforcing the premier position of DIMDEX within the naval and maritime security industry events calendar.Throughout these visits, the organising committee was buoyed by the continued support from new and existing partners where many international companies such as BAE Systems, Boeing, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Fincantieri, Leonardo, amongst others, have confirmed their attendance to DIMDEX 2018.
The Turkish presence has been always significant throughout the past editions of DIMDEX with the Turkish Pavilion standing centre stage as one of the largest and most prominent international entities. As part of the series of visits, a delegation from DIMDEX attended IDEF earlier in May this year, providing an opportune moment to invite Turkish companies to participate. The Turkish pavilion will be greater in size this year compared to DIMDEX 2016 and it will once again include significant Turkish companies such as ASELSAN, ROKETSAN, Ares Shipyard, TAIS and many others.
Turkey and Qatar have long maintained a collaborative cooperation across economic, commercial and industrial sectors. Recently this has expanded with the Turkish President hosting several tours and bilateral meetings, taking a leadership role in resolving the diplomatic GCC dispute through dialogue and negotiations. The Qatari and Turkish visions agree on principles, foundations and understandings with handling international relations, which is a peaceful approach to settling crises and international disputes, including that of the GCC.As a strategic ally to Turkey, and since both countries signed a defence agreement in 2014 to establish a Turkish base in Qatar, the alliance has also strengthened the nation’s defence capabilities and promoted the region’s stability and security.
DIMDEX 2018 will introduce businesses to key procurement decision makers, with four core pillars of activity to support exhibitors and visitors achieve their goals: the Exhibition to display and explore the latest state-of-the-art technologies, the Middle East Naval Commanders Conference(MENC) to discuss pressing industry trends with industry leaders and speakers,as well as the exclusive VIP Delegations that allow access to key influential stakeholders through the simplified Delegate Management System (DMS). In addition, once again exhibitors and visitors will be able to access the visiting Warship Display that will for the first-time dock at Qatar’snew multi-billion-dollar Hamad Port.
As a key business platform and knowledge sharing platform, DIMDEX is pressing ahead with plans, partners and preparations for its upcoming edition, remaining resilient and continuing its heritage of providing a premier spring board for growth. Looking ahead to 2018, pre-registration for the show will launch in the coming month for visitors and exhibitors, in advance of the March event.
