The State of Qatar is located on a peninsula requiring more effort to respond to the changing needs of the state's borders security and protection. The General Directorate of Coasts and Borders Security (GDCBS) plays a pivotal role in doing just that and has organised its responsibilities int fundamental duties as follows: monitoring, protecting and securing state's territorial water up to 12 miles offshore, protecting industrial and oil infrastructure and facilities under areas of jurisdiction, enforcing maritime law in conjunction with official organisations.
